Some fluid is present within these tubes; these fluids tend to move inside these tubes to cause sensitivity. Minerals present in saliva usually clog the outer surface of these tubules, which in turn, prevents the movement of fluids and cause sensitivity. All the bleaching gels usually dissolve the plugs, thereby allowing fluids inside these tubes to flow and result in sensitivity.

Tooth whitening sensitivity can be prevented if you are a bit conscious and aware of the process of teeth whitening. Always ask the dentist about different ways that can be used for treating sensitivity post whitening. While it is not necessary that people will develop sensitivity after whitening, it is quite a common problem.

After a whitening treatment, always ask the dentist to provide a desensitizer gel; most reputed brands do provide these gels to ensure relief. Use soft bristled toothbrush to prevent any wear and tear. Choose toothpaste that prevents teeth against sensitivity.

Fluoride applications can also be used for strengthening the outer layers of teeth, including the enamel for reducing sensitivity and discomfort. It is important to maintain the whiteness and take adequate measures to prevent sensitivity.
